Fendt 818 Vario TMS
The 2002 Fendt 818 Vario TMS was inspired by the Fendt Favorit 818. The characteristic square bonnet of the previous model was somewhat rounded during the renovations and hence became, in addition to modernised technology, a contemporary design. The tractor has a four-stroke six-cylinder engine with direct injection, which produces an output of 180 hp at 5,702 cm3. The dimensions of the tractor are 4.70 m in length, 2.55 m in width and 3.02 m in height. With a curb weight of 6,800 kg and a maximum authorized mass of 12 t results in a payload of 4,200 kg.
The pump of the hydraulic system promotes 112.5 l/min at a working pressure of 190 bar, the linkage of the tractor also boasts a maximum lift capacity of 9,256 kp. The characteristic suffix "TMS" refers to the Tractor Management System TMS, which automatically controls the engine speed and the transmission ratio, thus ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption and optimized driving behaviour. Furthermore, the continuously variable Vario transmission supports the economy of the Fendt 818 Vario TMS, as the driver only needs to choose between forward or reverse gear, and the speed can be controlled optimally using the intuitive joystick. Also, the cruise control option maintains a constant preselected speed, thereby also increasing the usability of the tractor. The maximum speed on the field is 28 km/h on the road, and has the potential of reaching up to 50 km/h. With all-wheel drive and differential lock automatic all-wheel drive, locks will automatically switch on or off depending on the steering angle and speed.
In 2006 the 800 series was revised once again, to update engine model and horsepower. Despite the larger displacement, however, horsepower dropped by 10. However, the renovation allowed the injection pressure to be visibly increased. Moreover, in light of these renovations, the weight of the Fendt 818 Vario TMS has been increased by 385 kg. The dimensions increased minimally alongside the hydraulic pump capacity, which is now 154 l/min.
